Acute and chronic conditions can severely impact how you carry out tasks at home, in the workplace, and in the community. Assistive Technology (AT) and ergonomic services can help improve or compensate for these difficulties, letting you perform to the best of your abilities. Going to a clinic is not always easy or provide a complete picture of a person's abilities, so we are happy to offer services in the home or workplace.
AT is any item, piece of equipment, software program, or product system that is used to increase, maintain, or improve the functional capabilities of persons with disabilities. This includes "low-tech" solutions such as picture symbols to help identify the contents of drawers, to "high-tech" solutions that enable individuals control their computer with their eyes. Most of us have powerful AT tools in our pockets or homes, but don't know that they exist or how to use them.
Ergonomics looks at fitting a job to a person, instead of the other way around. It helps lessen fatigue, increase productivity, and reduce injury. Ergonomic interventions can involve adjusting a chair to properly support the body, adjusting monitor settings to reduce eye strain, or using software to change how tasks are completed.
